The role of the Linguistic Project Manager for NLU (Natural Language Understanding) is to help develop NLU systems in collaboration with computational linguists and linguistic annotators.

Overall Responsibilities:
– Developing NLU systems
– Advising linguistic annotators on how to complete their work
– Refining guidelines for semantic, syntactic and morphological analysis
– Evaluating and analyzing data quality

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
– Reviewing linguistic data and using the data to build NLU systems
– Advising linguistic annotators on how to complete their work
– Assessing NLU system quality and implementing necessary improvements

Required Skills:
– Graduate degree, in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics (In lieu of graduate degree, comparable work experience with undergraduate degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics)
– 1-2 years working on similar tasks in either in an Academic or professional setting
– Near-native level of at least one of the following languages: Russian
– Professional fluency in English
– Knowledge of semantics and syntax
– Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts
– An interest in natural language processing
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Good organizational skills
– Able to multitask effectively and adjust smoothly to changing priorities

Nice to have skills/Not Required:
– Experience with linguistic annotation in semantics and syntax
– Experience programming or scripting, and working in Linux/Unix environment
