Localization Coordinator

The role will be to serve as the central point of contact for translation vendors, the documentation team, quality engineers, Product Management, and other stakeholders within the company. Drive translation/localization activities toward deadlines and goals within the software release cycle and optimize user experience for non-English-speaking customers.

Your Focus

  • Support the translation and localization needs of all teams throughout the company by obtaining quotes, providing support with the purchase request process, interfacing with the vendor(s), and end-to-end project management
  • Manage vendor operations in regards to finance and budget to include: Obtaining price quotes, service negotiation, contract administration, monitoring invoices, and program budgeting
  • Resolve translator queries and support the development of glossaries and other resources by researching terminology in consultation with development teams
  • Perform quality assurance, to include:
  • QA of source content before sending it out for translation, resolving ambiguities in consultation with development teams, and correcting spelling and grammar
  • File count matches
  • Completeness
  • Link functionality
  • Check in changes in GitHub
  • Work closely with the Documentation team and Product Management to align translation activities with release planning and budget

You should also bring the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in a language-related degree program (Foreign Language, English, Communications) or related program of study (Master’s degree preferred)
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the localization industry, with demonstrated involvement in software localization
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Some knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, PHP, Python) a plus, in particular in connection with internationalization of code (or at least a fearlessness to learn)
  • Experience with and understanding of the software development process using Agile methodology
  • Excellent writing skills with a focus on technology and user experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact frequently with software development, documentation, translation vendors, and other stakeholders within the company
  • Ability to structure own time and work productively in a fast-paced, Agile development environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in order to execute on assignments and deliverables on time and within budget
  • Native or near native English speaker with fluency in at least one other language (required); additional reading knowledge of other languages preferred

Translation process

  • Establish, track, and communicate deadlines for each project
  • Adapt pre-written SQL queries to extract content for translation
  • Perform proactive research into technical terms and provide context information to save time and improve translation quality
  • Respond to translator queries during translation
  • Manage delivery schedule with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Check and test deliverables: all content translated, hyperlinks correctly localized, content displays correctly, etc.
  • Ensure successful hand-off of deliverables to stakeholders
  • Resolve translation defects

Finance management and budgeting

  • Obtain quotes
  • Negotiate occasional discounts on quotes
  • Maintain/track invoices
  • Data entry for translation project tracking
